Carmel was born on Bainbridge Island, Washington and grew up in Portland. She traveled east to New York City for dental school and stayed to work for a few years in Boston, MA. In 2012 she returned to Portland to reunite with family and team up with Dr. Craig BenBen in NW Portland. When not working in the office on Pettygrove, you can find her on the slopes of Mt. Hood Meadows in a very loud ski outfit. While dentistry is Carmel’s favorite subject, her other passions Include spending time with her husband and two children, peloton, cooking and being fashionable. Meena was born in Baghdad, Iraq and moved to Lake Oswego at the age of 11. She earned her DMD in Arizona and moved to San Francisco to complete her residency in general dentistry at a community health clinic in Oakland. She came back to Oregon after her son was born because she wanted to share the same experiences that she and her husband loved while growing up in the Pacific Northwest. Meena has always enjoyed teaching. While practicing dentistry in California, she also directed a dental post-baccalaureate program, worked with dental residents, and taught dental students at UCSF School of Dentistry. Today she continues teaching as faculty at OHSU School of Dentistry. Meena loves being back in Oregon, relishing moments of rediscovering familiar places from her childhood with her family. Enter through the driveway on the east (right) side of the house. You may park directly behind any of the cars parked in the first row (the first row of spaces is for employees). Please do not park in the driveway, but if the patient lot is full, you may park on the bricks in the center of the driveway. Please inform the front desk if you’ve parked in the driveway. Metered street parking is also available. We recommend that large SUV’s and trucks use street parking. Alternate transportation The streetcar provides transportation within two blocks of our office. The closest stop is located on 23rd, between Northrup and Lovejoy. Bus service is available on the #15 (on 23rd) and the #17 (on 21st).
